01 — THE CONSTRAINTS
The building sits in a flood-risk zone and a conservation area, and the homes had to be fully accessible: a lift, level access and wheelchair-standard flats.
02 — HOW IT WAS RESOLVED
We commissioned a flood consequences assessment, put every bedroom above the 1-in-100-year flood level with an allowance for climate change, and designed the ground floor to recover quickly after a flood. The street elevation was designed for the conservation area. It is our third project for the charity.
03 — WHAT WE DELIVERED
- Change-of-use and conversion design
- Flood consequences assessment coordinated
- Conservation-area design
- Accessible flats, lift and level access
- Planning consent, no appeal
04 — WHERE IT STANDS
Planning consent granted by Carmarthenshire County Council.
